NO WIN WAR

James Fox

As the Founder of this website stated in his analysis of the Middle-East, catch-22 situation,

"Allowing fanatic tyrants to seize control, and to cut off or drastically reduce the flow of oil, would wreak economic havoc on America and seriously damage our national security. Of course -- like the 9/11 attacks and the terrorism designed to destroy our efforts in Iraq -- that's exactly what they want.

If the United States pulled out of the Middle East and ignored the threat of isolationist Islamic radicals taking over power in oil-producing countries, they would literally control the World economy, which depends on increasingly more oil. China's increasing need for oil will certainly exacerbate the problem. In other words, they could cause global chaos by drastically reducing or cutting off our oil supply and the oil supply of any other nation they perceive as posing the threat to them. The results would be disastrous."

I agree with his conclusion that, at this moment in time, we have no other option than to try to contain the situation while trying to reduce our dependancy on Middle-Eastern oil.

Terrorist cells are scattered throughout the world. Their only reason for existing is to kill Americans and destroy any infrastructure that promotes a democratic culture; trying to fight a military battle against an enemy that wears no uniform and comes disguised as small children and old women, only results in a repetition of ancient history.. Winning a war against Islamic fanatics was tried in the 250 year War of The Crusades.
Those who do not learn from historical mistakes are doomed to repeat them.

Al Qaeda had ties to other "terrorist organizations that operated under its umbrella," including: the al Jihad group based in Egypt, the Islamic Group, formerly led by Sheik Omar Abdel Rahman, and other jihad groups in other countries. "Al Qaeda also forged alliances with the National Islamic Front in Sudan and with representatives of the government of Iran, and its associated terrorist group Hezballah, for the purpose of working together against their perceived common enemies in the West, particularly the United States."

This country is in dire need of a reality check. It's a known fact that our European allies have no stomach for a prolonged, no-win war with the Arab nations. Bringing the culture and blessings of democracy to an ancient Muslim culture that has no desire for change is going to be a bloody battle that could bankrupt our nation both financially and morally. There appears to be no solution to our problem.

There is one solution, but it entails many changes in our own culture and the elimination of several practices that currently stand in the way. In the following paragraphs, I will outline an audacious plan that would solve our problems and change the way the world looks at us, forever. You think we are hated now, just wait until we....

1. Start using our Army Corp of Engineers and other non-combat federal units to find, mine and smelt gold as fast as they can process it into ingots.
2. Start a public work force that will build backup refineries eliminating the strangle hold the private sector has on production and price.
3. Start regulating all activities that effect the public health and welfare.
4. Establish an equitable ratio between prices and wages and then freeze both. Inequitied can be resolved by a regulating agency.
5. Start buying all the oil that is avaiable on the world market. Don't worry about the cost, I'll explain later. Store the oil in dry wells throught the nation until we have an estimated 30 year supply.
6. Take a complete inventory of all the items that we import that critically impact our survival. This inventory with include any and all outsourced products that are or after being imported become finished products. This includes auto parts, chemicals, minerals, electronic components, etc,.
7. Take that shopping list and start buying a 30 year supply of each. Once again, don't worry about the cost, its only money.
{NOTE} Both United States Notes and Federal Reserve Notes are parts of our national currency and both are legal tender. They circulate as money in the same way. However, the issuing authority for them comes from different statutes. United States Notes were redeemable in gold until 1933, when the United States abandoned the gold standard. Since then, both currencies have served essentially the same purpose, and have had the same value. Because United States Notes serve no function that is not already adequately served by Federal Reserve Notes, their issuance was discontinued, and none have been placed in to circulation since January 21, 1971
8. Close both borders with barriers and electronic surveillance and build up our Coastguard fleet of ships and aircraft.
9. Notify all industries that have holding abroad or that depend on out sourcing to build their products, that they have 90 days to bring that business home - do not explain why!
10. If at the end of 90 days, we have sufficient gold bullion in storage, devaluate the American dollar by a factor of twenty to one.
11. close the seaports to all incoming freight of any kind, stop over the border commerce and stop all airfreight except domestic.
12. We now pay off the national debt by giving the Federal Reserve the dollar value in gold, which is now twenty times smaller, fire them, replace the current currency with United States Notes issued directly from our treasury thus eliminating all that interest we have been paying.

Foreign products would instantly become twenty times more expensive if allowed into the country, but beyond our borders our products would be really cheap if anyone wanted to buy them or needed them. Our people having holdings or building product abroad because of cheaper labor would be ruined or forced to return home and rebuild factories in order to get cheaper labor.

Here at home a dollar would still buy what a dollar would before devaluation. Returning businesses would re-establish high employment and a healthy economy. While, without our business, OPEC would be forced to drastically reduce their prices and the whole world would be better off. I wonder if they would hate us any more than they do now.
