In the tradition of Thomas Paine's Common Sense, William Smith's COMMON SENSE REVISITED is a 123 page commentary on our government that is well worth reading. The book is a reflection on the government created by the founding fathers as it has come to exist today. In reality the author does not see any resemblance at all. Using the simple process of identifying the provisions of the Declaration of Independence, the Constitution, and the Bill of Rights, Smith demonstrates how government today rejects them completely.

William Smith takes us through our founding documents much like Thomas Paine described the dilemma of America as the Declaration of Independence was signed and the Revolutionary War broke out. Clearly, the similarities of then and now are remarkably disturbing.

Even more disturbing is how every branch of government; the legislative, executive and judicial, has manipulated, usurped, revised and ignored the Constitution regardless of its obvious meaning and how distinctly and concisely it was written.

William Smith provides example after example of the consolidation of government replete with abuses of power. In effect, America has reverted to conditions from which we separated in 1776. The trip back in history sparks an urge of renewal and the need to declare our independence, again.
