THE TEN THINGS YOU CAN"T SAY IN AMERICA
St Martin's Press

Los Angeles radio's top talk show host and syndicated columnist Larry Elder has authored a "must read" book documenting most of what's wrong in America. Indeed, the book is a bluntly candid, easy reading, indictment of media bias, bloated government, health-care, welfare, black racism, white condescension, affirmative action, the glass ceiling, Democrats and Republicans, gun control and the lost War on Drugs.

>From the Preface:

"Bad schools, crime, drugs, high taxes, the social security mess, "racism,' the health-care "crisis," unemployment, welfare state dependency, illegitimacy, the gap between the rich and the poor. What do these issues have in common? Politicians, the media, and our so-called "leaders" lie to us about them. They lie about the cause. The lie about the effect. They lie about the solutions.

The Ten Things You Can't Say in America shows how the media, politicians (both Democrats and Republicans), schools, universities, and churches have ignored these problems -- or often made them worse.

The well-intentioned, though wrong-headed, "war against poverty," for example, actually encourages poverty. The "war on drugs" make casualties of innocent citizens, making them increasingly vulnerable to gang and gang-related violence...

...This book speaks out against self-defeating and destructive political correctness; the liberal media; the phony health-care "crisis"; the job-destroying stupidity of minimum wage laws; the unconstitutional attack against smoking; and the blood on the hands of the "good guys" who want more and more gun control...

...Something is wrong. We've become a nation of "victicrats." We demand government handouts, bailouts, loans, tax breaks, subsidies, special protections, and guaranties while refusing to accept responsibility for our own actions. We expect the government to do that which we could and should do for ourselves...

...The goal is simple. As Americans, we must refocus our energies. We must face and defeat the twin villains -- dependency-creating government and our refusal to accept responsibility for our own lives..."

Note: PBS National Desk recently aired a program, "Education: A Public Right Gone Wrong," reported by Larry Elder. The program contained a thorough discussion with highly qualified authorities about the debate over school choice, vouchers and privatizing education. The PBS video of the program is highly recommended.
